Mr. Smith nominated Lucia Rodriguez for PBS Student of the Week.
“Lucia is an outstanding P.E. student that has a great attitude and displays good sportsmanship every day. She is a great athlete that led the girls basketball team to a winning season this year with her unselfish play.”

After School Sporting Events
All students who wish to attend KLS games after school must leave school at dismissal and return with an adult to stay at the game.  This is not a drop off event and there is no supervision for students after buses leave at dismissal.   Coaches will provide supervision for players only.  Come one, come all, come with an adult!  Help us cheer on our teams!  Thank you for helping us to keep all of our kids safe.

District Advisory Council

Key Largo School needs a new District Advisory Committee (DAC) Representative.  The meetings are every other month, usually the first Wednesday at Marathon High School from 6pm to 7pm.  DAC brings together members from Monroe County School District Schools SAC (School Advisory Committee) to discuss the issues, concerns and needs of each school and the entire district.  It is a great way of getting to know the Superintendent Mr. Porter, school board members and other concerned parents from the district.  It would greatly help KLS stay in contact with the other SAC's and express our concerns and needs directly to the district.  You just need to attend and then report back to KLS's SAC (or an administrator).  Some of the past topics have been strategic priorities for the district, school lunches, common core requirements, etc.  Also the drive is peaceful and beautiful.  Just let Mr. Pais, Mrs. Scheer or Ms. Lietaert know if you can attend or have a couple of parents take turns.  Help keep KLS voice heard at the district level.  Make a difference and help our school.  If you want more information about what the meetings are like, please email Debbie Williams (past DAC rep) at debbieklfl@mindspring.com.
