21^st CCLC News -

 

Each year we ask parents, students & teachers to take a survey to evaluate our 21^st CCLC afterschool program.

For the first time, the surveys are available online.

Choose MCSD from the drop down menu,

Choose KLS from the drop down menu,

Answer survey questions.

 

Students from Key Largo Middle School participated in the worldwide BGCI Olympic Wreath Program.

The program required students to study South Florida's native plant population and implement 3 or more into a Olympic Style wreath. Along with the wreath, competitors were required to write a 500 word essay explaining each plant. Program developers hope it will help raise awareness among young people about the threats facing biodiversity. Congratulations go out to all the students! The photo includes students from the Top 5 entries along with Rick Hederstrom of Kona Kai Botanic Gardens as well as three participating teachers from the Key Largo School; Bobbi Burson, Sandra Prew and Elena Delgado. The 1st Place wreath/essay from the Kona Kai judging was done by Bridget Welsh and Emily O'Connor. A picture of the wreath can be seen in the background. The Top 5 Key Largo Middle School team entries went off to London for International judging; our Monroe County students have a great chance of becoming the winners!
